Camera Obscura Build CV:

A history of bespoke Camera Obscura that we have been involved in creating.

In addition to these camera obscura we have supplied many turrets and lenses for private projects.

2019

Plas Newydd House and Garden, Anglesey..
5.95m focal length, 75mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Installation of a horizontal projection of Snowdon and the grounds. The camera obscura was designed to compliment Whistlers mural in the room preceding as part of a guided tour.

Patching Arts Centre, Calverton, Nottingham.
2.8m focal length, 128mm diameter, Achromtic Doublet, Anti-reflection coated.Lens and mirror supplied in turret as well as a 500mm focal length 200mm diameter concave mirror for image making purposes.We created, supplied and fitted a turret to be mounted on an existing building to create a vertical projection camera obscura. We also built and supplied a flat, adjustable projection table. The table was created to facilitate drawing in the camera obscura.

2018

209 Women, Portrait.
Supply of box camera obscura and expertise to assist Emma Critchley in the production of a portrait of MP Rachel Reeves. 209 portraits of female MPs were produced by a 209 female photographers to celebrate the centenary of women gaining the vote.

Fountains Abbey Camera Obscura.
6.7m focal length, 200mm Diameter, Achromatic Triplet, Anti-reflection coated.Lens and Mirror supplied as part of an art installation in the grounds of Fountains Abbey.

2017

Private Client, Fleet.
Design, construction, supply and installation of turret for an existing garden structure.The projection table was also supplied for a vertical projection camera obscura.

2016

Punch and Judy Booth.
Not a camera obscura for a change but a permanent Punch and Judy puppet booth on Chapel St Leonards sea front in Lincolnshire.

2015

1001 inventions UNESCO head quarters.
1.9m focal length, 128mm diameter, Achromatic Doublet, Anti-reflection coated.We supplied the lens and mirror for an installation at the opening events for the UNESCO year of light.

2013

Portable Camera Obscura in Northumberland.
2.13m focal length, 75mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Vertical projection onto table.Vertical turning handle.We supplied a tripod tent camera obscura with blackout lining, turret, optics head turning handle and table for the VARC (Visual Arts in Rural Communities) project.

Waddesdon Manor Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
3m focal length, 75mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Two horizontal projections onto a purpose made wall dividing a room in the tower.No rotationThese camera obscura were conceived as the climax to an art trail running through Waddesdon Manor, curated by the artist Jan Dunning.

2012

4m focal length, 150mm diameter, Achromatic Triplet lens, Anti-reflection Coated.Horizontal projection onto an existing wall.Rotated by means of a handle built into the Optics head/turret.This was an architect led project, we supplied the optics head, turret and turning mechanism.

The Great Eye Camera Obscura, Norfolk.
2.32m focal length, 80mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Vertical projection onto a back projection screen.We supplied the lens and mirror for a temporary installation at a scenic viewpoint.

Bathing Machine, South Coast.
1.8m focal length, 75mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Vertical projection onto a table.Horizontal bar turning mechanism.We supplied the turret, optics head and turning handle for a camera obscura built into a Victorian style bathing hut for a site specific theatre piece which toured south coast resorts.

1.5m focal length, 75mm diameter, Meniscus lens, Anti-reflection and Hard coated.Vertical projection onto a table.Vertical turning handle.We supplied the turret, optics head and turning handle for a camera obscura built into a Yurt for use by the photography department.
